Location: Bay Area (remote ~ 90% of time)

About the Job

  • You will be part of our SOX and internal audit engagement teams, working closely with Gentico staff and interfacing frequently with our clients. 

  • You will be expected to multi-task, as we frequently work on several SOX engagements concurrently.

  • You will have the opportunity to learn/grow from our team leaders, as you receive increasing levels of responsibility on the SOX and internal audit engagements.

  • You will also support other consulting engagements.  We are looking for a “utility” player.

  • Our current work model is a hybrid approach, where we spend approx. 90% of our time working remotely and 10% of our time at our client-site.  However, we need to be flexible to accommodate client demands.

 

Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Primary role will be to support the SOX engagement team leader(s) by performing the following key functions:

    • Partner with the client to review and update business process narratives and controls.

    • Identify potential control gaps and other business process improvement opportunities.

    • Conduct business process walkthroughs.

    • Execute on the internal control test programs. 

    • Document and communicate test results.

    • Identify corrective action plans; work with client to implement such plans; monitor progress.

    • Prepare and maintain audit work papers.

    • Develop monthly/quarterly communications to management.

    • Roll-forward prior year engagements.

  • Other SOX engagement activities may include:

    • Perform annual internal control risk assessments.

    • Review the overall design of the clients’ internal control structure.

    • Map internal controls to the clients’ key control objectives.

    • Develop testing procedures.

    • Evaluate control deficiencies.

    • Benchmark processes and controls against best practices.  

    • Prepare client engagement proposals.

  • Other consulting projects may include, depending on skillset and bandwidth:

    • Internal audits or other investigations.

    • General accounting support activities.

    • Other types of support activities.

    • Ad hoc projects.

 

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field

  • Minimum 2-3 years of private or public accounting experience

  • CPA preferred, not required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

  • Willingness to learn; "can-do" attitude

  • Client-focus – be responsive and resourceful

  • Ability to work independently and balance workload to complete multiple assignments within time constraints

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft office products; familiarity with ERP systems a plus
